Welcome to Choir of the Earth Learning Library

Expert choral teaching and rehearsal tracks sung by professional singers, for every choral voice part.

Learn beyond the notes, with detailed teaching from experienced conductors and rehearsal tracks sung by professional singers.

The Choir of the Earth Learning Library brings together expert teaching and professionally sung rehearsal tracks to help you learn your part thoroughly and sing with confidence.

Every work in the Library has its own teaching sessions for each choral voice part, led by experienced conductors, alongside rehearsal tracks sung by professional singers. Learn the notes and rhythms, explore pronunciation, breathing and phrasing, and understand how your part fits into the music, step by step.

The Library is run by Earth Choir Academy, a UK non-profit, and brings the teaching behind Choir of the Earth, our global online choir, to every singer and every choir.

What makes the Learning Library different

Taught, not just played

A rehearsal track lets you hear your part. A teaching session helps you master it. Each part is taught separately and thoroughly, with the difficult passages explained, demonstrated and worked through. Alongside notes and rhythms, you explore vocal technique, interpretation and musical context.

Real voices

Our rehearsal tracks are sung by professional singers, whose choral experience and musicality shape every phrase. Hear how they breathe, shape vowels, vary dynamics and connect words into a flowing musical line.

Expertise you can hear

Learn with conductors including Ben England, Harry Bradford, Nigel Short and Saul Zaks, and rehearse with recordings by ensembles including Fieri Consort, The Gesualdo Six and Recordare Chamber Choir.

What's inside

Choral works

Large choral works and shorter pieces, each with teaching and rehearsal tracks for every choral voice part

Teaching sessions

Your part, taught thoroughly by experienced conductors. Pause, repeat and revisit any section as often as you need.

Rehearsal tracks

Rehearsal tracks for each part, sung by professional singers. Learn with your voice part louder than the others, then test your confidence with a balanced full choir track.

You’ll also find resources you can buy separately, including our Around Sound lectures on music history and music theory, and vocal technique exercises led by professional singers.

For singers

Learning a big work in a few weekly rehearsals is hard. Most in-person choir rehearsals focus on the whole choir at once, whereas the Learning Library allows you to concentrate on your own voice part, with dedicated teaching from an experienced conductor and rehearsal tracks sung by professional singers. Go back over the tricky passages as often as you like, and arrive at rehearsal with greater confidence.

Not in a choir? You can also explore the teaching in the Library at your own pace, simply for the enjoyment of singing.

Already a Choir of the Earth Member or Associate Plus Member? Library access is included with your membership. Log in to start learning.

Library memberships for individual singers are coming very soon.

For choirs and choir directors

A Choir Membership gives your whole choir access to the Learning Library. When singers arrive knowing their parts, your precious rehearsal time can be spent on shaping the music rather than teaching the notes. The Learning Library supports that preparation with excellent teaching and professionally-sung rehearsal tracks, available 24/7 for your singers to use between rehearsals.

Teaching you can trust: every singer learns from the same expert teaching and professionally-sung tracks, helping your choir prepare with confidence.

Home and rehearsal use: singers can practise between rehearsals, and your Choir Membership also allows you to use the tracks together in the rehearsal room.

One Choir Administrator account: invite and remove singers from your Choir Membership whenever you need to.

Common Questions

The Library combines rehearsal tracks sung by professional singers with detailed teaching for every choral voice part. Alongside learning notes and rhythms, you explore pronunciation, breathing, phrasing and interpretation, with difficult passages demonstrated and worked through.

Most of our teaching sessions are led by Choir of the Earth's talented and charismatic Musical Director Ben England, with others led by other experienced conductors including Harry Bradford, Nigel Short and Saul Zaks. Each work’s information page introduces the conductor teaching it.

The Learning Library provides excellent teaching and rehearsal resources for everybody who enjoys choral singing, including:

●  Individual singers rehearsing their parts at home between choir rehearsals;

● Choirs who want to give all their members access to the same high-quality resources;

● Keen choral singers who would like to expand their repertoire;

● New and returning singers who would like to build their confidence and rehearse for choir auditions.

Our Choir Memberships include a licence that allows your choir to use the rehearsal tracks together in the rehearsal room, as well as separately at home.

Our individual memberships include a single licence for personal use only, so cannot be used in group settings.

Choir Memberships are available for choirs of up to 50 singers and choirs of 51-100 singers, with bespoke memberships available for larger choirs.

Your choir chooses the relevant size of membership, then signs up on our website. The sign-up process will automatically create a Choir Administrator account that your choir leadership can use to easily invite singers to join your Choir Membership. They can also independently remove singers who may have left to free up spaces.

Choir Memberships include access to the whole Learning Library. Subscriptions are associated with the Choir Administrator account you will set up on registration, and are paid by card. The term of each membership, and whether/when it will renew, is clearly stated on the membership registration page.

You can read more about Choir Memberships here. Further information is also available in our Help section.

You can stream the teaching sessions and rehearsal tracks through the Library website at any time while your membership, or your choir’s membership, is active. You’ll need an internet connection, as the resources aren’t available to download. If your membership ends, your learning progress is saved so you can pick up where you left off if you resubscribe.
